If you are looking for a warm welcome, then Nesna is for you!

Nesna University College is located in Nesna, a coastal community with about 1900 inhabitants in Nordland County, one of the northernmost counties in Norway. You will find Nesna just south of the Arctic Circle, 70 km from the nearest larger town, Mo i Rana. Nesna is unusually small for a college town, and it offers an insight into the life of a coastal community far away from the mainstream.

Thanks to the warm waters of the Gulf Stream, the climate is less severe than might be expected of the county's latitude. The surrounding countryside provides excellent opportunities for outdoor life and recreational activities, such as mountaineering, hiking, skiing, or fishing… So there are many good reasons for choosing Nesna.

Helgeland and Nordland County are characterized by a large number of small rural schools on islands and in small communities. Many research projects conducted at Nesna University College are based on work in small rural schools and kindergartens. This gives our research and teaching a dimension which has also been interesting to larger schools in more centralised areas. Experiences drawn from teaching in small rural schools have proven to be useful in "differentiated" teaching of multicultural groups of pupils.

There is a friendly atmosphere at Nesna University College, with good relations between students and staff. The college is also popular because many students prefer the intimate student environment that is found here. It is our expressed wish that all our students will look back on the time spent at Nesna University College with a sense of joy and satisfaction which will prepare and motivate them for lifelong learning.
