Music, Dance and Drama in a Multicultural
Perspective
Nesna University College invites students from all around the globe to participate in an international semester focusing on multiculturalism and aesthetic subjects (music, dance, and drama) taught in English.
The world is getting smaller, and globalization is an important aspect of our modern lives. Working together across political and cultural borders becomes more and more common. On the other hand, racism and the fear of the unknown grow. Music, dance, and drama provide us with a language that is understood everywhere and able to cross these boundaries.
The course Performing Multiculturalism has two main aims: One goal is to provide the students with skills, knowledge, and experience in order to increase their intercultural competence - increasing their ability to work and live together in a multicultural society.
The second main goal of the interdisciplinary course is to create an intercultural performance that will be presented to the public. Working together towards a common goal in an international setting promotes intercultural understanding and competence. Students with different backgrounds and cultural experience share their ideas and discuss cultural issues in a multicultural setting. IT and the use of digital media are an integral part of this process, and are used to document ongoing work. A general focus on the didactics of aesthetic subjects makes this course also a perfect choice for teachers and other educators wishing to address multicultural topics in their teaching.
This course is for you, if you:
